Performance forecasting of hydraulically fractured horizontal wells using dynamic-drainage-area concept with correct distance of investigation

Abstract Performance forecasting of multi-fractured horizontal wells (MFHWs) completed in tight/shale oil or gas reservoirs is great significance the development unconventional resources. Dynamic drainage area (DDA) concept has emerged as a production methodology for reservoirs. This paper investigated DDA method and derived correct expressions distance investigation (DOI) both constant rate bottom-hole pressure cases by integrating material balance deliverability equation within range DOI. The modified with DOI coefficients provided this permits direct calculation dynamic performance at arbitrary time steps before end transient linear flow. At same smooth MFHWs from to boundary-dominated flow realized without modification extra coefficient. Hybrid models such plus dual-exponential hyperbolic are presented, which can be applied quickly easily alternatives complex numerical simulation. Meanwhile, average readily obtained coefficients, avoiding iterative calculations. reliability practicability solution have been demonstrated synthetic field work.
